St. Pauli sign Kevin Lankford

FC St. Pauli have completed another deal in the final week of the transfer window. Following the acquisitions of Alex Meier and Jakub Bednarczyk, Kevin Lankford has been become the third player to join the club this winter. The German-American winger arrives from league rivals FC Heidenheim and has agreed terms on a contract that will run until 30 June 2022.

"We were planning to sign Kevin next summer but brought the deal forward following the departure of Cenk Sahin. Kevin is a good fit for us, given we want to win young talented players for St. Pauli and shape and develop them here," said director of sport Uwe Stöver.

Expressing his delight over the move, head coach Markus Kauczinski said: "We're looking forward to Kevin. He's a quick attacking player who has played on both flanks at Heidenheim. He gives us another attacking option."

Kevin Lankford is also happy the move has come about early: "I really wanted to join FC St. Pauli and am all the happier that the transfer has come about this winter. I'm looking forward to the club, the city and the challenge at FC St. Pauli."

Lankford, who moved to Heidenheim from the youth ranks of SSV Ulm, made his second division debut in February 2017 and made 32 competitive appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
