ST. PAULI SIGN SAMI ALLAGUI FROM HERTHA BSC

St. Pauli have completed their first signing for the new season. Sami Allagui comes to the Millerntor on a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Hertha BSC. The 30-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a two-year deal that ties him to the club until 30 June 2019.

"Sami is an experienced striker who has scored goals wherever he's played," said director of sport Andreas Rettig. "He also has great quality as a provider. In his career so far he's already shown that a move to the second division need not be a step back. On the contrary, it can be crowned by success. We're delighted Sami has opted to join us despite having other offers."

Allagui is also looking forward to the new challenge. "I'm delighted to be able to play for a club that leaves no one in Germany cold. St. Pauli are a very special club and I'll do everything I can to make sure we achieve the maximum possible next season."

Allagui has made a total of 107 Bundesliga appearances (25 goals) for Hertha BSC and Mainz 05 and 106 second division appearances (36 goals). In the second tier the 27-times-capped Tunisia international has played for Hertha BSC, Greuther Fürth and Carl-Zeiss Jena. The Düsseldorf-born player has also had spells with Belgian top-division clubs RSC Anderlecht and KSV Roeselare.
