Tashchy departs

Striker Borys Tashchy and FC St. Pauli are going separate ways after the club and the player mutually agreed to dissolve his employment contract, which was set to run until 2022.

Tashchy moved to the Millerntor from MSV Duisburg in June 2019. He made 28 league appearances for the Boys in Brown and two in the DFB Cup.

What they said

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: “Borys approached us with a request to dissolve his contract. The hopes of lots of appearances and goals were not fulfilled, not least because a series of injuries and spells on the sidelines. We also have enough options in attack. I’d like to wish Borys lots of luck for his future career.”

Head coach Timo Schultz: “Borys always gave his all and was an important part of the squad. It would have been difficult for him to get playing time in the next few weeks and months because of the options available to us in attack. I’d like to wish him all the best for his footballing future!”

Borys Tashchy: “My time at FC St. Pauli has come to an end and I will focus on a new challenge. I’d like to wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season.”

Tashchy made the switch to the Millerntor from MSV Duisburg in the summer of 2019 having scored 13 goals and contributed six assists in 54 appearances for the Zebras. Unfortunately, he was held back by a prolonged muscle injury sustained in pre-season that prevented him from making his debut for the Boys in Brown until the seventh game of the 2019/20 season.

He continued to be dogged by injury problems and missed both the end of last season and the beginning of this one. In an 18-month spell in which he always gave his all for the team despite so many setbacks, the 27-year-old made a combined total of 30 league and cup appearances for the club.

We would like to wish Borys all the best for his professional and personal future and hope he stays fit and healthy!
