USA TOUR, DAY THREE - FROM PANEL TO PARTY

Day 3 of the US tour began with a panel discussion and ended with a post-match party in the East River Bar in Brooklyn. In between there was time for some sightseeing before the Boys in Brown took to the pitch for the first friendly of the tour against New York Cosmos.

On Thursday morning, the St. Pauli delegation took part in a panel discussion on "The Rise of Independent Football" hosted by Nick Davidson. Club president Oke Göttlich was joined on the podium by Joe Barone (Senior Vice President, New York Cosmos), Shawn Roggenkamp (FC St. Pauli NYC), Patrick Infurna (active Cosmos fan group member), Tim Kelly (Chairman, Chattanooga Football Club) and Sean Mann (CEO, Detroit City FC). After an interesting discussion, everyone agreed that the community has to be at the heart of things. Next up for Göttlich after the panel was a visit to Sports Illustrated for in a TV interview.

While all this was happening, the Boys in Brown had the morning off to take in more sights on their final day in New York. Marvin Knoll and Richard Neudecker popped into the NBA Store, for example, while Korbi Müller went jogging in Central Park before ascending the Empire State Building.

In the evening it was time for football and the first friendly of the tour, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Boys in Brown at the hands of New York Cosmos. For the match report, click here!

The day ended with a highlight – the Supporters Night at the East River Bar in Brooklyn! Organised in association with New York branch of the supporter club, the East River Pirates, the party featured a guest appearance by popular musician Thees Uhlmann.
