Veerman completes Heerenveen switch

Henk Veerman has left FC St. Pauli at his own request to return to Dutch top-division club SC Heerenveen. The 29-year-old striker joined the Boys in Brown at the start of the 2018-19 season and made a total of 39 first-team appearances, scoring 17 goals. He also contributed seven assists.

Reaction to the move:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Henk approached us with a request to return to SC Heerenveen. We greatly regret his decision but respect his express wish to move back home with his family, of course. We'd like to wish him all the very best for his future career and thank him for his efforts on behalf of the club."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "In Henk we lose not only a good player but also a great guy. I wish him all the best personally and professionally back home."

Henk Veerman: "It's the best decision for me and my family. I'm really proud to have played for this fantastic club and these brilliant fans. I'll always remember the games at the Millerntor and especially the one at HSV, when I gave us the lead in a 2-0 away win."

Henk Veerman celebrates after scoring in the 2-0 reverse derby win last season.
