LUHUKAY: "HARD TO GET YOUR HEAD ROUND A PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT"

The highest-scoring game of the season for the Boys in Brown ended in a 5-3 defeat at SV Wehen Wiesbaden on the final day of the 2019-20 season. After the final whistle, head coach Jos Luhukay, midfielder Johannes Flum, and forward Henk Veerman looked back at the 90 minutes.

Head coach Jos Luhukay: "It's hard to get your head round a performance like that after we'd secured our league status last week. Whenever we've done well at home this season, we've followed it up with a poor showing away, and that was again the case today. We weren't resolute enough to keep a clean sheet today. We defended badly two or three times early on and conceded too easily, but after going two down we came back well and levelled things up. We then conceded another easy goal just before the break because we didn't defend well enough in our own box. Wiesbaden created more chances after the interval and were well worth their goals before Henk got his second. I'd like to thank the players and everyone involved in working around them all season plus the fans for their support both home and away. I wish Wehen all the best for the future, perhaps they'll return to the second division soon."

Henk Veerman: "We were too open but scored some good goals as well. All in all, we didn't defend well today. We have to do better next season. I have no explanation for our away record. The fact is we have to do a number of things better when we play away."

Johannes Flum: "It didn't look good today. We didn't get into the tackles, Wehen Wiesbaden took the fight out of us and were much more agile than we were. Such a performance and result is then what you get."
