Zander completes permanent deal

FC St. Pauli's squad planning for the new season continues apace with the signing of Luca Zander on a permanent deal from Werder Bremen following a two-year loan period. Zander has put pen to paper on a contract keeping him at the club until 30 June 2023.

Since making the loan move to Hamburg two years ago, Zander has made 30 appearances (three assists) for the Boys in Brown. The 23-year-old missed the latter stages of the season just ended due to a serious shoulder injury.

Head coach Jos Luhukay: "We're delighted that Luca has committed to us long-term. He's a young, accomplished full-back who has shown his class here over the last two years and we're convinced he'll be able to help us to push on with the quality he has."

Luca Zander: "The team, the fans and the club have really grown on me over the last two years, so I'm all the happier to be able to continue playing for this awesome club long-term. I'll give my all to ensure we do as well as we can in the next few years. My priority now is to get fit again in time for the preparations for next season. I can hardly wait to get back on the pitch and play for the club."
