BOYS IN BROWN FACE YOUNG GUNS IN AUE TEST
The Boys in Brown hit the ground running last weekend when they started the season with a victory for the first time in three years. And for the first time in what seemed like an eternity at least some of you were able to celebrate a winning afternoon at the Millerntor. The 3-0 defeat of Holstein Kiel offered an initial pointer yet amounted to nothing more than the first three points in the bag. On Sunday afternoon (13:30 CET), the Schultz XI start from scratch again at Erzgebirge Aue aiming to build on last week's encouraging showing.

SCHULTZ: "THEY'LL MAKE LIFE DIFFICULT FOR US"
Next up after the successful start to the campaign is the first away game of the new season (Sunday, 13:30 CET). In Erzgebirge Aue, Timo Schultz's side go up against a team who will make life difficult for the Boys in Brown, as the St. Pauli boss was keen to point out at the pre-match news conference on Friday morning.

MEDIĆ: "THEY'RE MOMENTS YOU HAVE TO FEEL"
Jakov Medić is out of breath. His first 90 minutes at the Millerntor have stretched him to the limit. Exhausted, but happy, the 22-year-old centre-back summarises the game for us in the mixed zone. St. Pauli have kicked off the new season with a 3-0 victory over Holstein Kiel, the effort was worthwhile. Later, Medić garners widespread praise for his performance.

WONDER STRIKE EASES BOYS IN BROWN TO OPENING-DAY WIN OVER KIEL
FC St. Pauli made a successful start to the 2021/22 season with a deserved 3-0 defeat of Holstein Kiel in front of 8,900 fans at Millerntor Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Leart Paqarada opened the scoring with a wonderful strike on 11 minutes before second-half goals from Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Guido Burgstaller put the first points on the board. Before the game kicked off a minute's silence was held in honour of the recently deceased Claus "Bubu" Bubke, Esther Bejarano and the victims of the heavy rainfall. Rest in peace!
